Karl Amoussou is no stranger to the trash talking aspect of the fight game. Although that has worked for him in the past, David Rickels was affected by it at all. The actual fight was an interesting one. Besides taking a illegal groin shot Amoussou controlled all of round one. In round two, Amoussou began to slow down. Amoussou was very tired, but was still able to take the second round. Amoussou was completely gassed in round three and took a lot of punishment. Rickels was on top of Amoussou and continued to ground and pound his way to the final bell. Amoussou started to get a huge swell under his left eye. A swell similar to the one Josh Koscheck had when fought George St-Pierre.  Amoussou took the fight by split decision, handing Rickels his first professional loss. Amoussou may have broken his orbital bone, but for now Amoussou will face Bryan Baker in the welterweight finals.
