Jimmie Rivera and Aljamain Sterling both captured and defended the CFFC bantamweight belts at different times.
After defeating Carson Beebe via knockout in 16 seconds to retain his belt at CFFC 48 May 9, 2015, Rivera received the call to the UFC. The New Jersey native is (3-0) inside the octagon with wins against Marcus Brimage, Pedro Munhoz and Iuri Alcantara.
Rivera is riding a 16-fight win streak and suffered his last defeat to Jason McLean at Ring of Combat XXII via decision.
Sterling defended his CFFC strap three times against Casey Johnson, Sidemar Honorio and Joel Roberts. The New Yorker suffered his first loss May 29 at UFC Fight Night 88 when Bryan Caraway won via split decision.
Sterling is (4-1) inside the octagon with victories over Johnny Eduardo, Takeya Mizugaki, Hugo Viana and Cody Gibson.
Rivera took to Twitter to congratulate Caraway on defeating the New York native.
“Congrats @BryanCaraway someone needed to be humbled out @FunkMaster_UFC” Rivera said.
Sterling replied back to Rivera “@JimmieRivera135 Coming from the cockiest dude I know. At least I’m not the guy getting KO’d in the practice room and still acting TUF ”
After back and forth tweets and some help from fans joining in, Rivera tweeted the latest message.
“@FunkMaster_UFC @Fabbz08 this Twitter back and forth shit is corny.Let’s just fight already.I’ll enjoy settling this in the cage. Lil homie,” Rivera said.
Let see if it happens.
