New York’s Aljamain Sterling (9-0) meets Hugo “The Wolverine” Viana (7-1) at UFC Fight Night 45 at Revel casino in Atlantic City, N.J. on July 16.
Sterling had a successful UFC debut after he defeated Cody Gibson via unanimous decision at UFC 170. The former Cage Fury Fight Championships defended his bantamweight strap 3 times. In his last CFFC bout, “Funkmaster” submitted Joel Roberts in the opening round at CFFC 30. The fight marked the return of Sterling after over a year layoff due to injury.
Sterling’s win over Gibson also marked his second fight with Team Serra-Longo in Long Island, N.Y.
Viana re-entered the win column when he defeated Ramiro Hernandez via unanimous decision at UFC on FOX 10. Viana dropped a first round TKO defeat to T.J. Dillashaw at UFC on FOX 7. The Dillashaw loss marked Viana’s first career defeat.
This fight will most likely be featured on the FOX Sports 1 preliminary portion of the card.
