Rick Hawn has made it to a Bellator tournament final once before. He took on Jay Hieron, the winner got a shot at Ben Askren’s title.  Hieron won the bout by split decision. When I talked to Rick Hawn he said “I don’t count the Hieron loss as an actual loss.” The fight was very close and it could have gone either way. All that is in the past, Hawn is now training at Tri-Star and is also at a new weight class. Hawn has won his two tournament fights by knockout. His first win was over Ricardo Tirloni and he defeated Lloyd Woodard last night. Hawn has looked very dominant as of lately, should be exciting to see him take on the other finalist and soon to be father, Brent Weedman. Weedman also dropped down to lightweight after competing in Bellator’s welterweight division.  Weedman has also proven to be dangerous. Come the day these two welterweights meet, everything in their past will go away. All that will matter is who will win and get a shot at Chandler.
