Brendan Barrett vs. Justin Woods title bout to headline ROC 48

Ring of Combat heavyweight champion Brendan “Brutal” Barrett (9-6) will look to defend his strap against Justin Woods (4-0) at ROC 48 at the Tropicana hotel & casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey on May 16.

In September, Barrett defended his title for the very first time by defeating Miodrag Petkovic by first round TKO at ROC 46.

Back in 2011, Barrett was (4-6) and his career did not look like it was going anywhere. Barrett went on to win three fights in 2012, a submission win over J.A. Dudley, a TKO win over Joe Stripling, and a decision over Randy Smith. When “Brutal” took his first fight in 2013, he kept competing at a high level, winning the ROC heavyweight title by finishing Silvio Santos by TKO in just 33 seconds of round one at ROC 44. Barrett has always been a finisher and has really turned things up in the regional heavyweight division.

Barrett has fought inside the ROC cage seven times in his career, with a total record of (4-2-1). “Brutal” is currently riding a five fight win streak.

The Indiana native, Woods is undefeated with all four victories coming by the way of first round TKO/KO. In his last bout, Woods defeated Tim Dunn in November of 2013. Previous to the victory, he defeated Corey Moon at Kombat Zone 38 in January of 2013.

Woods has not fought more than once for any organization and will make his ROC debut when he faces Barrett.

This bout will be the evening’s main event. Also on the card is a lightweight title fight between Chris Wade and Frankie Perez Jr.
